Victoria McDonagh

Victoria is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department of Social Care & Early Childhood in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at South East Technological University. Victoria holds a Doctorate in Social Science from University College Cork, an MA in Child, Youth & Family Studies and a BA (Hons) in Social Care Work from Waterford Institute of Technology. Victoria brings expertise in both academic and applied research. Victoria is also a member of the Irish Young Carer Research Network.

Victoria has also extensive experience in both case work and management roles in a range of social care work settings including with family carers, children and older people. This has included working in Australia for 6 years in the community services sector. Victoria’s research interests include family carers, young carers, children, family support, older people and dementia support.

Victoria was co-opted on the Board of Care Alliance Ireland in June 2026, serves as a member on the Research Committee and is seeking formal election to the board at the upcoming AGM.
