'Guiding support for family carers'

Welcome to Return Ready - Technology Skills For Family Carers

Supported by Pobal and the Department of Social Protection, the course is managed remotely by Amy.

The project is supporting 150 family carers, throughout its 14 month duration, October 2021- December 2022, to upskill/refresh their ICT (Information and communications technology) knowledge.

The aim of the project is to enable participants to feel more confident and ready to return to paid employment.

The project is completely online and runs in four week blocks, with a weekly commitment of 2.5 hours. Participants will have access to live webinars on topics related to ICT Skills, CV Writing, Interview Skills, Remote Working, Computer Terminology and a Self Care Workshop. 'IT Club's' and informal 'Checks In's' will also be facilitated to offer a more informal space to ask questions and chat with peers. Sessions generally take place on Monday/Tuesday mornings.

In addition, each participant will have access to three hours of 1-2-1 ICT tutoring and a €300 training budget to support further self development.

The pilot for 'Return Ready' began with 10 participants in October 2021. Currently in it's seventh and final instalment, we have seen great success with some past participants progressing back to work, further education or becoming self-employed.

This project was approved by Government with support from the Dormant Accounts Fund.
