Aisling Harmon

Aisling returned to Ireland in 2006 to care for her father with Alzheimer’s disease, and now her mother with advanced Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Recently retired from 16 years of osteopathic private practice, she has a keen interest in Public Patient Involvement (PPI) and the translation of research to policy having pursued postgraduate Social Research study. She shares her clinical, teaching and caring skills via her PPI experience as Expert Panellist/Speaker/ Advocate/Research Participant/Project Advisory Group representative/Heath Research Board Funding Co-Applicant. Comfortable to engage with Academia to Not-for-Profit sectors, she has contributed to policy dialogue with public and state bodies and has lobbied at National and European level. A participant of the Irish Patient Education Programme (IPPOSI) in 2019, she has volunteered for many years with the Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI), is a Dementia Carer Campaign Network (DCCN) advocate and sits on the Dementia & Delirium Steering Group in St. Vincents' University Hospital.
